‘I can even do it for free’ Zandile Khumalo-Gumede Responds To Calls For Cancel Culture

The singer and TV personality, Zandile Khumalo-Gumede, has spoken out in support of her sister Kelly Khumalo, who has been facing criticism and cancellation from angry social media users and event organisers over the Senzo Meyiwa case. The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was shot dead in 2014 at Kelly’s mother’s house in Vosloorus. The trial of the five suspects is currently taking place at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

How Kelly Khumalo was cancelled from two music festivals

Kelly Khumalo was with Senzo Meyiwa when he was killed and has been accused of being involved in his death by some people. A recent court sitting revealed that Kelly Khumalo was in contact with one of the accused days before Senzo was shot. It was also revealed that no calls were made to the police or the ambulance after Senzo was shot. As the case continues to get complicated, several event organisers have decided to cancel Kelly Khumalo from their lineups due to the ongoing court trial.

Kelly Khumalo has not commented on her alleged cancellation. The singer has been dropped from two gigs this month. She was removed from the all-star lineup of ‘A Tribute To Women’ festival and The Maseru Jazz Festival, slated for 24 September 2023. According to both event organisers, the decision to cancel Kelly Khumalo was based on complaints from unhappy audiences who were following the shocking testimonies during the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.
