Bongani Mathabela (Name changed to protect identity of victim) who lives in Witbank and works for a big accounting firm says he is sick and tired of being pushed around by his colleagues and managers at work.
According to NewsSa, Mathabela who is a member of the Zion Christian Church says he is not allowed to drink his tea or wear his church badge at the office.
As per the churches’ tradition, all members are required to drink FG tea/coffee with no sugar at least three times a day. But Mathabela struggles to keep up with the pace as his employer does not allow him to bring his tea to work.
Mathabela also stated that he is not even allowed to wear the ZCC church badge when he comes to the office.
“At first, people at the office made fun of me calling me a police officer when I came to work wearing my badge. Soon after that, I was called to the manager’s office and was told that I should no longer bring my coffee to work because I make a mess in the kitchen. Honestly, I’ve always cleaned up after making my tea.” Said Mr. Mathabela.
Mr. Mathabela who has worked for the firm for eight months now says he has taken the matter to the CCMA and he is waiting for the outcome.
