Black Coffee Reassures Mzansi Following Concerning Cryptic Tweet

South Africans are breathing a sigh of relief after Black Coffee reassured them after initially getting them worried after publicly opening up about himself in a cryptic tweet.

Black Coffee has made a reputation for keeping his personal life private, but on Wednesday, he confidently shared with his social media followers that he was not okay.

“Ay….I’m not ok,” he wrote.

The tweet garnered lots of reactions which included empathy, despite people having zero knowledge of what he was going through as it isn’t detailed enough.

Some of his followers presumed he was badly affected by the recent demise of Big Nuz founding member Mampintsha, while others just wished him well. A section of the people that commented on the tweet also encouraged him to open up to people around him.

However, some saw it as an opportunity to mock the Grammy award winner.

Hours after posting the initial tweet informing South Africans that he was not okay, Black Coffee tweeted that it was normal for him to feel that way sometimes.

He thanked his followers for the positive messages. Black Coffee also highlighted that some of the responses to his initial tweet highlighted why men keep mental health issues to themselves and end up taking their own lives.

He added that he hopes South Africans will offer men support when they show vulnerability. Black Coffee wrote:

Thank you for positive messages I’ll be fine 🙏🏿
Going through some of the comments makes one realize why most men bottle things up and some even take their lives,I hope you listen and offer support to men in your lives when they show vulnerability🙏🏿

He further shared things he wishes for men in 2023; below are the 7 things he mentioned.

Men Need to Know it’s okay to:

    • To break down
    • To cry
    • To ask for support
    • To be vulnerable
    • To go to therapy
    • To talk about feelings
    • To not be okay
