“I Will Not Apologise”: Pearl Thusi Raises Middle Finger As She Breaks Silence On Recent Zimbabwe Visit

Actress and media personality Pearl Thusi has raised her middle finger and said she would not apologise for her recent visit to Zimbabwe.

The Controversial Trip

Pearl Thusi, actors Sello Maake kaNcube, Sonia Mbele, and a group of journalists went to Zimbabwe for a tourism appreciation and promotion trip. They also got to dine with government officials and visit President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the State House in Zimbabwe.

The trip drew ire from Zimbabweans and South Africans online, who accused them of spreading propaganda and supporting a government repressing its citizens.

Yesterday, Pearl Thusi took to Instagram to address the rage over their trip. She said she would not apologise for anything:

“When I was asked to go to Zimbabwe, there was one thing I was told. Tourism. To showcase Zimbabwe to the entire world to show a different narrative of Zimbabwe that there’s beauty. Invite people to come and spend money in Zimbabwe, show that Zimbabwe is powerful and incredible in its own special ways. When we arrived, it was like, ” Oh, there is a gala dinner; oh, there is a state visit.”

“I am not going to apologise for anything. What I will say is I did not know that I was going to be at the State House, and I did not know that I was going to be in a situation that was going to look politically charged. We were told we were going to serve a tourism moment. When I got there, imagine now you’re there; imagine being rude to like the Head of State. Hayi, hmm hmm. No, I’m not gonna do that. But also, I did not spread any propaganda.”
