‘I’m Not Signed to Roc Nation’: Tyla Sets the Record Straight
South African music star Tyla has dismissed speculation that she has signed with Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, telling fans the reports are false as she shifts attention to the release of her highly anticipated second album.
The Grammy-winning singer addressed the rumours herself after days of online speculation linking her to the global entertainment giant.

Tyla Breaks Her Silence
Taking to her Instagram Story, the Johannesburg-born star made it clear that she has not joined Roc Nation’s roster.
Instead, she used the opportunity to remind fans that her sophomore album, A*POP, is set for release on July 24.
Her statement puts to rest widespread reports that claimed she had secured a global deal with the company founded by Jay-Z.
Rumours Gathered Pace
Speculation intensified after a digital billboard featuring Tyla appeared in New York’s Times Square, prompting several publications to report that she had signed with Roc Nation.
The reports also sparked suggestions that the singer had left Epic Records.
However, Tyla still appears on Epic Records’ official artist roster, while her name is absent from Roc Nation’s list of signed artistes, indicating that no such move has taken place.
All Eyes on APOP
With the rumours now addressed, Tyla has turned her focus back to her upcoming album, which will be released on July 24.
She has been building anticipation for the project through social media and live performances, recently entertaining crowds at Afro Nation Portugal with songs including “Is It,” “She Did It Again,” and “Jump.”
The new project will be the follow-up to her self-titled debut album and is expected to showcase the next stage of her musical evolution.
Returning Home for Inspiration
Tyla has also revealed that she chose to complete much of the album in South Africa to reconnect with her roots.
She said the recording sessions were held at a lodge in the Cradle of Humankind, where temporary studios were set up in the middle of nature.
According to the singer, the setting reminded her of childhood family trips and helped her reconnect with memories that influenced the creative direction of the album.
She recalled waking up to monkeys each morning and joked that the experience felt like living in The Lion King, with recording equipment having to be connected through the surrounding bush to bring the project to life.
