Inno Morolong Sentenced to 12 Months House Arrest for Calling Tebogo Thobejane a Tlof Tlof Worker

Controversial club hostess Inno Morolong has been sentenced to 12 months of house arrest after being found guilty of crimen injuria for defaming actress Tebogo Thobejane on Instagram.

The Randburg Magistrate’s Court handed down the sentence on Wednesday, following a case brought by Thobejane against her former friend.

The charges stemmed from a 2023 Instagram Live session in which Morolong accused Thobejane of engaging in illegal activities, including scamming, tlof work, and using ‘muthi’ (traditional medicine).

The court ruled that Morolong’s public statements were defamatory and harmful, warranting a significant penalty.

Strict House Arrest and Rehabilitation Conditions Imposed

According to IOL, as part of her sentence, Morolong will serve a full year under correctional supervision, confined to her home from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on non-working days.

Exceptions have been granted for community service, religious activities, and medical needs. Additionally, she must perform at least 16 hours of community service per month and attend life skills programs as part of her rehabilitation.

The court also imposed a wholly suspended 12-month imprisonment sentence for five years, on the condition that Morolong does not commit crimen injuria again during this period. Strict prohibitions on alcohol and drug use were also enforced for the duration of her sentence.

Thobejane Welcomes Verdict, Stresses Accountability for Online Behavior

Following the verdict, Tebogo Thobejane expressed her relief and gratitude in an Instagram post. She wrote,

“Justice has been served. Let this be a reminder that stalking, harassment, and bullying are serious offences.” Thobejane emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for their online behavior, particularly in an era where social media can amplify harm.
