South African actor Webster “Neo” Kutoane has died at the age of 39. He passed away on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
Kutoane was widely recognised for his role as Poni-Poni on the popular e.tv drama series Isitha: The Enemy. His passing was confirmed by the production team and broadcaster e.tv in an official statement.
Broadcaster Confirms Passing
In its statement, e.tv expressed deep sorrow over Kutoane’s death.
“e.tv is deeply saddened to confirm the passing of one of our cherished cast members, Webster ‘Neo’ Kutoane, who brought the memorable character of Poni-Poni to life on Isitha: The Enemy,” the broadcaster said.
Born on 21 March 1986, Kutoane died, just weeks before his 40th birthday.
The channel praised his talent and dedication, describing him as an actor who brought authenticity and emotional depth to his role.
“Whether in moments of intensity or vulnerability, he carried his role with authenticity and depth, contributing meaningfully to the show’s impact and success. His presence on set will be profoundly missed by colleagues, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him,” the statement read.
A Multifaceted Career
Beyond his television work, Kutoane also built a career as a master of ceremonies. He was actively involved in politics and previously served as the Lesedi Constituency Chairperson for ActionSA.
His colleagues and supporters have remembered him as a dedicated professional who balanced his artistic pursuits with community involvement.

e.tv extended its condolences to Kutoane’s family, friends, colleagues and viewers who were touched by his work.
