Former ANCYL president and current EFF leader Julius Malema accidentally voted for the opposition on Wednesday in Mponengele Primary School in Polokwane, Limpopo.

This is said to have happened after Julius Malema told the press that they (the EFF) have done their work :

“Those who have done their work are relaxed now, they are walking around the voting station with their grannies not with T-shirts. We are not panicking. We know that we have done our work. We are not political rascals.”

According to local reports, the EFF leader had too much going on in his mind and he started panicking.

Witnesses say Julius Malema argued with poll workers for several minutes afterwards in an effort to redo his vote, but in accordance with state law they ultimately denied his request.

The embarrassing incident may have gone unnoticed if it weren’t for a local newspaper reporter who happened to be voting in the next booth. Suzanna Everett, a politics correspondent for a local newspaper witnessed the entire ordeal and crafted a cunning scheme to make it public.

Asked what actually happened, Julius Malema said ” It’s the day of the elections, so I had too much going on in my mind and I as you would recall, I used to be a member of the ANC, so I am so used to their colors, I have voted for the ANC many times before, I then accidentally put my mark in the wrong box.”
