Kelly Khumalo’s Mother Emerges as Star Witness in Jub Jub Trial
The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) has enlisted Kelly Khumalo’s mother Ntombi “Makhumalo” as one of three witnesses to testify against Jubu Jub in his upcoming trial in November
The Uyajola 9/9 presenter is facing several counts of rape, assault and attempted murder.
Khumalo’s mother and sister Zandile are also alleged victims of Jub Jub.

Kelly Khumalo’s Disturbing Account of Decade-Old Domestic Violence
Kelly Khumalo has provided the police with a detailed account of a series of domestic violence incidents that allegedly occurred more than a decade ago. These incidents involved physical abuse, assault, and rape, perpetrated by her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye.
In 2009, Kelly Khumalo became pregnant with Jub Jub’s son and moved in with him in 2010, marking the beginning of a turbulent period for her.
One incident described by Kelly Khumalo occurred when Jub Jub was released on bail after an accident that resulted in the death of several schoolchildren in Soweto. While visiting friends in Rivonia, the couple had an argument, during which Jub Jub allegedly pushed Kelly Khumalo against a wall and strangled her while she was eight months pregnant. Following the altercation, Kelly Khumalo sought medical treatment at the Sandton Clinic due to severe abdominal pains.
In another instance in June 2010, Jub Jub picked up Kelly Khumalo after she had finished filming for Rhythm City. He accused her of having a relationship with one of her co-actors and slapped her upon arriving at their residence. However, he later apologized, and Kelly forgave him for the sake of their newborn child.
In the same year, Kelly Khumalo suffered further physical abuse from Jub Jub when he punched her so forcefully that she collided with a doorframe, injuring her nose.
In another distressing incident that year, Jub Jub struck her on the lip with his fist, leaving a scar that remains visible today. Kelly sought medical attention and had her lip stitched.

Why NPA HAs Roped In Kelly Khumalo’s Mother as Key Witness in Jub Jub Trial
Kelly Khumalo also alleges that Jub Jub assaulted her mother and sister at their family home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. A confrontation ensued when Jub Jub demanded Kelly Khumalo’s bank card and car keys, and she refused. He struck her on the head with a glass, causing injuries that required medical treatment. The situation escalated when Kelly’s mother and sister attempted to shield her from further harm.
Furthermore, Kelly Khumalo claims that Jub Jub raped her in 2012 when she declined to be intimate with him. According to her statement to the police, Jub Jub reportedly used a pillow to suffocate her while committing the assault, placing it over her face during the incident. After he had finished, Jub Jub removed the pillow and left for his court hearing.
