Khanyi Mbau, the renowned socialite and actress, has publicly confirmed her breakup with her longtime partner, Kudzai Mushonga. The pair had been in a relationship for five years, but their bond came to a heartbreaking end recently, signalling a shift in their personal lives.
This follows a previous breakup in 2021 when Khanyi unexpectedly left Kudzai in Dubai and returned to South Africa, unbeknownst to him. Although they rekindled their romance after a few weeks, many believed the drama was a publicity stunt. However, this time, the separation appears final.

Khanyi Mbau’s decision to breakup with Kudzai Mushonga
In a candid statement, Khanyi shared her internal struggle before deciding to walk away. She explained that the emotional healing process had been long and complicated but ultimately necessary.
According to her, the choice to end things was not an impulsive one. She described Kudzai as a “good guy” but acknowledged that his actions had hurt her.
“He tried his best to make amends.,But I had done most of my grieving while we were still together.”
For Khanyi, the breakup was an act of self-preservation. She stressed that despite everything, she wished Kudzai the best as they both moved on with their lives.

Kudzai Mushonga’s Struggles with Depression
Throughout their time together, Kudzai Mushonga also faced his own emotional battles, which he bravely opened up about. The Zimbabwean businessman admitted that during their relationship, he felt profoundly isolated and unloved. He confessed that for a long time, he felt unworthy and disconnected from those around him.
“The only thing I had were the views from our Dubai apartment, But even that couldn’t mask the pain I was feeling inside. I was very depressed, struggling with my mental health, and I felt like I was dying inside. It was a slow and agonizing process, and I just wanted it to end sooner.”
