Kim Kardashian Reveals She Bought Her Own Engagement Ring for 72-Day Marriage
Kim Kardashian has revealed shocking details about her brief 72-day marriage to former NBA player Kris Humphries, disclosing that she had purchased her own $2 million engagement ring.
The reality TV star opened up about this on the March 13 episode of The Kardashians, reflecting on how she had to return the ring during their divorce proceedings—despite having paid for it herself.

Kim Paid for Her Own Engagement Ring
Kim and Kris got engaged in 2011, with Humphries proposing using an 18-carat diamond ring. However, Kim recently disclosed that she was the one who actually bought it.
“I didn’t keep [the ring]. I was pregnant with North, still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in the divorce. The ring that I bought,” Kim shared.

She further revealed that Kris only covered a small portion of the ring’s cost.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Montecito, California, in August 2011. However, their marriage quickly crumbled, and they separated in October of the same year.
Their divorce was finalized in April 2013, at which point Kim was expecting her first child with rapper Kanye West.
Kris Humphries Cashed in on the Ring
Despite not having fully paid for the ring, Humphries went on to auction it following their divorce. According to E! News, the ring was sold for a staggering $749,000 (about R13.6 million) in 2013.
His representative confirmed the sale, stating,
“The ring is indeed Kris’ property that he received through his marriage dissolution… He was very pleased with the final result of the auction.”
Kim’s Lavish Engagement Rings from Kanye
After her short-lived marriage to Kris, Kim later received an even more extravagant engagement ring from Kanye West—a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond ring.
Unfortunately, this ring was stolen during the infamous Paris robbery in 2016.
However, she still has her first engagement ring from Kanye, a cushion-cut diamond, which she plans to pass down to her daughter.
