‘Isidingo’ Actress Michelle Botes Dies
Legendary South African actress Michelle Botes has died.
Michelle Botes who is well known for her villanious role as Cherel de Villiers in Isidingo succumbed to cancer. She was 63 years old.

Michelle Botes Battles Cancer
According to Afrikaans Magazine Bruis, Michelle Botes lost her battle with cancer this Saturday morning.
She had been battling advanced multiple myeloma, a rare, incurable type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow for over the past two-and-a-half years.
Michelle was diagnosed with cancer in July 2022. She was initially treated with chemotherapy and steroids and later received a stem transplant, but did not want to continue with that treatment.
“I didn’t see a chance to feel so terribly bad again and not be myself,” she said.
Doctors gave her two to three months to live in October after her cancer count rose alarmingly. She began undergoing more holistic, less invasive cancer treatment in November but has weakened rapidly over the past two weeks.
“Whatever awaits me, I am ready,” she said.

Michélle Botes is best known for her roles in the television soapies Legacy (2020), Isidingo (1998) and Arende (1994).
She was not only a actress, she was also a language instructor, designer and aromatherapist.

Her sudden death has left Mzansi heartbroken. South Africans have described her as one of the country’s best actresses, praising her iconic role as Cheryl on Isidingo. Social media users have since taken to various platforms to express their condolences and mourn her loss.
