Limpopo Man Arrested for Killing 13-Month-Old Baby, Injuring Ex-Girlfriend after Running Over Them with His Car
A 35-year-old Limpopo man was arrested for the murder of a 13-month-old baby girl and the attempted murder of her mother, his ex-girlfriend.
This comes after he ran over his ex-girlfriend and her baby.
Argument Escalates to Fatal Violence
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the horrific incident occurred on Friday evening at around 8 PM to IOL.
The mother was reportedly standing by the roadside with her baby, waiting for a taxi to Segopye village when her former partner approached and started a heated argument.
In an attempt to leave the situation, the woman and her baby boarded a taxi. However, the driver later informed her that the suspect’s vehicle was following them.
Tragedy at Makwalaneng Cross
Upon reaching Marothi (Makwalaneng) Cross, the mother and her baby got out of the taxi, unaware of the danger that still lurked. In a shocking turn of events, the ex-boyfriend, who had reportedly been tailing the taxi, allegedly accelerated his van and ploughed straight into them without stopping.
“When they alighted at Marothi (Makwalaneng) Cross, the ex-boyfriend, who was driving a van, allegedly accelerated and drove straight over them without stopping,” said Colonel Ledwaba.
Both the mother and the baby were rushed to Mankweng Hospital with severe injuries.
Tragically, the 13-month-old baby girl succumbed to her injuries, while the mother sustained serious leg wounds.
