Lynn Forbes Reveals AKA’s Message From The Grave
The third season of DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected premiered on Saturday 30 September, and it featured a startling revelation from Lynn Forbes, late rapper AKA’s mom.
Lynn claimed that AKA, who was gunned down in February, visited her in a dream and requested that she take his daughter Kairo off social media.
DJ Zinhle, who has 8-year-old Kairo with AKA, was hiking with Lynn when the latter spoke about her dream. Lynn said that AKA was very resolute that he wanted Kairo to be less on social media and in public. She said that AKA was never keen on Kairo being on social media in the first place.
DJ Zinhle concurred with Lynn and said that she felt the same way. She said that she was never wary of her kids being on social media until AKA died.

DJ Zinhle’s Family
DJ Zinhle has two children: Kairo and Asante, who was born in 2021. Asante’s father is Morda, DJ Zinhle’s current partner. The couple has been dating since 2020.

Zinhle and AKA had a tumultuous on-and-off relationship that started in 2012 and ended in 2019. They broke up twice, once in 2015 when Zinhle accused AKA of cheating on her with Bonang Matheba, and again in 2019 when they grew apart. AKA then dated Anele “Nelli” Tembe, who died after falling from a hotel balcony in 2021. AKA later moved on with rapper Nadia Nakai.
Despite their breakups, DJ Zinhle and AKA co-parented Kairo well. DJ Zinhle also maintained a good relationship with AKA’s family, especially Lynn, who considers her as a daughter. Lynn has been supportive of DJ Zinhle throughout her pregnancy and birth of Asante.
DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected is a reality show that follows the life and career of DJ Zinhle, who is one of the most successful female DJs in South Africa. The show also features her family and friends, such as Pearl Thusi, Nomuzi Mabena, and Pinky Girl. The show is broadcast on BET Africa, DSTV channel 129.
