Ma Kunutu the Master Manipulator

Ma Kunutu the Master Manipulator

Skeem Saam: How far is too far? The Kunutu family and Alfred seem to be well aware that Nimza might be guilty and are trying to protect him as greatly as possible. Mapitsi was today’s star witness (In Pretty’s eyes anyway) and provided greater context into the charges against Nimza. What was not welcome though was the truth she told, especially by Celia.

She seems to be out to protect her son, at whatever cost, but when will we concede that she has gone too far? Much like all the times she has forced her husband to take on people, manipulatively, and go after their jobs?

Celia today went to put in a request to Mapitsi that she please be mindful of the fact that it is her husband’s fault that Nimrod does not have a father. Thabo anticipated this at the beginning and everyone took it lightly, but look at what Celia did and how well she did it?

What was wonderful to witness was Mapitsi’s relentlessness in the pursuit of truth and justice. A thing that has blindsided most involved in this hearing. It seems to be an emotional issue, a family against another, while that is neither fair nor fact.

It remains to be seen if Ma Kunutu’s determination to go on a warpath for her son will end in joy or tears for the son. Mapitsi’s attempt to reason with her uncle though seemed to have worked, but because he is under the control of his wife, it seems it will not be a thing that neither sticks nor stays with him.

The ability to draw similarities between the two matters (that of Sonti’s sexual harassment and this Nimrod’s case) and be able to empathise shows a maturity in Mapitsi that no one involved in the matter has yet to arrive to.
