Renowned South African musician, Makhadzi, has stepped up to assist tertiary students facing financial challenges with registration fees. With tertiary institutions reopening, many young South Africans find themselves unable to afford registration fees, leaving their academic dreams in limbo.

Born in Limpopo, the artist, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi “Makhadzi” Ralivhona, has pledged to cover the registration costs for 20 students in need.

Announcing the Initiative on Facebook

Makhadzi took to her official Facebook page to make the announcement:

“Are you struggling to register for the 2025 academic year? I want to assist 20 students by covering their registration fees.”

She outlined the eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must provide proof of acceptance at a tertiary institution.
  • A short motivation explaining their financial situation must be submitted.
  • Submissions should be sent via WhatsApp to 076 238 2014.

She urged students to apply quickly, as only 20 beneficiaries would be selected. She emphasized the value of education, stating,

“Education is the key to success, and I want to help open doors for those in need.”

Overwhelming Response from Students to Makhadzi’s offer

Her heartfelt initiative was met with an outpouring of responses from students desperate for financial aid.

Confirmation of the Generous Initiative

To verify the post’s authenticity, Sunday World contacted Isaiah “Bumba” Letsoalo, a close associate of Makhadzi. He confirmed that the initiative is genuine, stating,

“I spoke with Makhadzi, and she confirmed that this is indeed her initiative.”

Although the exact amount allocated for this project has not been disclosed, it is clear that Makhadzi is determined to make a difference.
