Award-winning South African musician Makhadzi has appealed for African unity after reports of calls to boycott her upcoming performance in Zimbabwe sparked heated debate on social media.
The Limpopo-born singer said music should bring people together rather than divide people along national borders. Sharing an AI-generated promotional poster alongside a heartfelt message, Makhadzi said Africa belongs to all Africans and artists should be free to perform wherever they are welcomed.
She added that music has always been a powerful force for uniting people regardless of nationality.
