Man Kills Wife and Sister-in-Law Before Turning Gun on Himself in Hoedspruit
Residents of Mabins B village, outside Hoedspruit, were left reeling after a man shot and killed his wife and sister-in-law, injured another, and then took his own life.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the 45-year-old suspect arrived at his wife’s home around midday on Saturday, parked outside, and opened fire on the victims.
The deceased have been identified as a 44-year-old woman and her 36-year-old sister. A third victim, aged 34, sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police Discover Two Bodies at the Scene
According to IOL, Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said officers were on patrol when they received a report of a shooting and responded immediately.
“On arrival, police found two lifeless bodies of women with multiple gunshot wounds. The brother of the victims pointed out the bodies and informed police that the suspect had suddenly opened fire on them,” Ledwaba said.
After the brutal attack, the suspect reportedly fled the scene. He was later found dead at his residence, having apparently shot himself with his firearm.
Motive Remains Unknown
Police in Limpopo have since launched an investigation into the incident. The motive for the shooting has not yet been established, and detectives continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Authorities have opened two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Police Condemn Domestic Violence
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe strongly condemned the killings, describing the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers of domestic disputes that escalate into violence.
“Domestic-related problems should be discussed and resolved amicably rather than through violence. Innocent lives are being lost unnecessarily due to such senseless acts,” Hadebe said.
