Litsoanelo “Dee” Seturumane, a participant from the first season of Married At First Sight South Africa, has bravely come forward about the damaging aftermath of her televised marriage.

The reality star disclosed how her experience on the show resulted in deep-seated trust issues that continue to affect her personal life.

Paired with Khutso Mokoena by the show’s matchmakers, Dee initially believed she had found her perfect match. “I was genuinely in love at first,” she confessed during a candid interview on the Engineer Your Life podcast. However, warning signs emerged shortly after their honeymoon in Cape Town.

“He gradually moved into my home without proper discussion,” Dee revealed. “As a full-time mother, this sudden change created immediate tension, especially since his child only visited occasionally.”

What began as passionate love quickly deteriorated into a cycle of emotional manipulation.

“Our relationship became dangerously unpredictable – extreme highs followed by devastating lows,” Dee explained.

The unstable environment particularly affected her child, who struggled with the inconsistent household dynamics.

The situation escalated when Khutso disappeared for an entire month without explanation.

“He only resurfaced after a car accident,” Dee recounted. “The prolonged silent treatments became his pattern of control.”

Financial Exploitation and Class Differences

Dee alleges that financial abuse compounded the emotional torment.

“While I was a student without income, he contributed minimally despite profiting from his apartment’s Airbnb rentals,” she stated.

The reality star believes their differing backgrounds – her privileged upbringing versus his impoverished childhood – fueled resentment in their marriage.

“By the time I physically left, I had emotionally checked out months earlier,” Dee admitted. “The constant manipulation drained me completely. I eventually feared him.”

Moving Forward While Seeking Closure

Khutso Mokoena, currently competing for Mr. South Africa 2025, has remained silent regarding these allegations. His recent social media posts celebrate professional successes, including property investments, without addressing the marriage’s dissolution.

Dee’s courageous revelations highlight the often-hidden consequences of reality TV relationships and the complex dynamics of abusive partnerships. Her story serves as both a cautionary tale and an inspiration for others facing similar challenges.
