Marumo Gallants Midfielder Reportedly Kidnapped, Family Receives R50,000 Ransom Demand
The family of Marumo Gallants midfielder Thapelo Dhludhlu is living in fear after allegedly receiving ransom demands and death threats from people claiming to be holding the footballer captive.
Dhludhlu, who is from Emalahleni in Mpumalanga, disappeared last weekend while visiting his hometown during a short break from training granted by his club.

Family receives chilling messages
The player’s mother, Doris Dhludhlu, said the family has been contacted several times through her son’s cellphone by individuals demanding money in exchange for his release.
According to her, the alleged kidnappers are demanding R50,000 and have warned that they will kill him if the family fails to pay.
The family also claims they received a disturbing image showing the midfielder lying on the ground without clothes, which has heightened fears for his safety.
Alleged kidnappers target relatives
Doris said the suspects have not only contacted her but have also reached out to other family members, including her sisters, requesting smaller amounts of money.
She revealed that one of her sisters was asked to pay R10,000.
According to Doris, the callers claimed Dhludhlu was being held at a location where drugs are allegedly sold, although the family has no information about why he was allegedly taken.
Mother pleads for son’s release
Doris appealed to the alleged kidnappers to release her son, insisting that he is the only person capable of resolving any financial dispute they may believe exists.
She said the family does not know whether Dhludhlu owes the captors money, but pleaded for his safe return so that any issues could be addressed peacefully.
The circumstances surrounding Dhludhlu’s disappearance remain unclear, and his family continues to appeal for his safe release as concern grows over his wellbeing.
