Master KG Claps Back At Feminist Ntsiki Mazwai

Master KG has responded to poet and feminist, Ntsiki Mazwai’s  suggestion about the ownership of the hit song Jerusalema and questions her motives behind the suggestion.

Considering her army of fans and strong Twitter presence, Ntsiki caused chaos on social Media over the weekend when she suggested Nomcebo Zikode should pay equal to Master KG from the song.

The poet reasoned that because Nomcebo wrote the lyrics and provided vocals for the global hit, she “deserved” 50% ownership of the song.

Ntsiki believes if the split was impossible, then Nomcebo ought to be paid like a session artist at least.

The outspoken poet and musician lit a powder keg when she joined a discussion on the ownership of the viral hit song. Respected rights activist Beverley Palesa Ditsie had decried what she termed the ‘erasure of black women.’ To illustrate her point, Ditsie highlighted that while Nomcebo Zikode did the vocals for Jerusalema she does not get any recognition for her immense contribution to the song.

Dietsie said,

We’ve so normalized the erasure of black women that it’s happening right in front of our eyes and we don’t blink.

The whole fucking world sings along to a woman’s voice and we don’t even mention her name.

So let’s fix it.
