Award-winning singer Mawhoo was forced to cancel her highly anticipated appearance at the RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event at Sun City Resort after her team was attacked while travelling to the venue.
The incident reportedly occurred as the artist and her entourage were en route to what was meant to be their final performance of the year.

Mawhoo took to her Instagram Stories to explain her absence, sharing footage of her damaged touring vehicle. In the video, she alleged that her team had been assaulted by a group she identified as “amabhunu/boer” during the journey.
She further claimed that members of her team, including her driver, were physically attacked during the confrontation.
Official Statement Confirms Performance Cancellation
Following the social media post, Mawhoo’s team released an official statement confirming that the incident directly prevented her from taking the Sun City stage.
The statement noted that the singer was travelling from a previous engagement when she and her team encountered what was described as a serious racial incident, which resulted in damage to their touring bus and caused a critical delay.
Despite efforts by both Mawhoo Entertainment and event organisers to salvage the situation, the team said it became impossible for the artist to arrive in time for her scheduled set.

Mawhoo’s management apologised to fans and stakeholders who had been looking forward to her performance at the year-end celebration, acknowledging the disappointment caused by her absence.
