Meet The New Miss SA Shudufhadzo Musida

Shudufhadzo Musida, 24, who hails from Ha-Masia, Limpopo, was last night crowned Miss South Africa 2020 at a prestigious event held in Cape Town.

She inherited the Miss SA crown from the reigning queen Sasha-Lee Olivier becoming the first contestant from Limpompo to ever be crowned Miss SA.

She was the winner of this year’s controversial public vote, whereby people were invited to pay to vote their favourite contestants into the top 10.

The glam pageant, which took place at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, was hosted by actress Nomzamo Mbatha and judged by Kim Engelbrecht, Zozibini Tunzi, Anele Mdoda, Peggy-Sue Khumalo, and Leandie Durant.

The true embodiment of beauty and brains, Musida has a Bachelor of Social Sciences in philosophy, politics, and Economics from the University of Pretoria, and is currently completing her BA Honours in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand.

The new Miss SA is very big on empowerment, to showcase her advocacy work of empowering women and children, Musida has so far donated food parcels, sanitary towels, and blankets to Takalani Children’s Home in Venda, Iris House Child Youth Care Centre in Giyani and Bohlale Multipurpose Drop-in Centre in Mankweng, all in Limpopo.

Given Musida’s choice of hairstyle, the Chiskop, the shaven-haired Venda beauty, just like Zozibini Tunzi, she broke all beauty stereotypes.

As the country’s newest Miss SA, Musida is also South Africa’s newest millionaire. Along with the coveted title, she’s won a package of prizes and sponsorships worth over R3m — this includes  R1m cash, as well as the use of a fully furnished and serviced flat at the luxurious Central Square and a Mercedes-Benz C200 Cabriolet for the year of her reign. the Sowetan Live reports

Musida will follow in Zozibini Tunzi’s footsteps and compete at the Miss Universe pageant. While, Miss SA’s runners up are Thato Mosehle from North West Province and Natasha Joubert from Gauteng will vie for the Miss World and Miss Supranational titles, respectively.
