Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux Reveals Struggles That Forced Her Out of Miss Universe
Miss South Africa 2024, Mia Le Roux, has broken her silence about her withdrawal from the Miss Universe pageant, revealing the personal challenges that led to her decision.
On Friday, the Miss South Africa Organisation announced that Mia would not be competing in the prestigious event, citing health concerns. The Miss Universe competition is being held today at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
South Africans began speculating about the nature of her health issues, prompting Mia to share her struggles while preparing for the Miss Universe competition.
video shared by TikTok user @queenlyview, Mia detailed the struggles she faced while preparing for the event. She explained that as someone with cochlear implants, she found it difficult to keep up with the demanding music and dance routines.
“I’m supposed to be able to follow music, which I can’t do it. Like other people who have cochlear implants, who dance they’ve had practice, they’ve learned a different way to follow,” she said.
Mia also mentioned feeling overwhelmed by the lack of consideration from some of her fellow contestants during practice sessions.
“When I tried to practice with all the girls, everyone was very loud and talking and I couldn’t follow. It was a lot. I felt inadequate,” says Le Roux in the video.
In a related update, the SABC confirmed on Friday, November 15, that the S3 channel will not broadcast this year’s Miss Universe contest. S3’s Publicity Manager, Caroline Phalakatshela said:
“S3 regrets to inform viewers that due to Miss Universe South Africa, Mia Le Roux’s withdrawal from the 2024 Miss Universe Pageant, the channel will no longer broadcast this year’s Miss Universe contest on Sunday the 17th of November 2024.”
The channel extended its best wishes to Mia for a speedy recovery and apologised to viewers for the unexpected change.
