Mpiyakhe Zungu Leaves Isibaya

Actor Siyabonga Twala who is better known for his role as Mpiyakhe Zungu on Isibaya has said goodbye to the drama, after shooting his final episode.

Mpiyakhe Zungu, has wrapped up the show after going 8 years strong. He joins Nomzamo Mbatha, Menzi Ngubane and Jessica Nkosi, among others to exit the dynamic show for other series.

Twala has become one of the most celebrated characters on Mzansi television and he has managed to enthrall the viewers as Mpiyakhe Zungu .

The news of his departure was announced back in September. According to reports, the actor left the show because of contractual disputes with his producers on Isibaya, after they couldn’t meet his salary demands.

Siyabonga Twala has already landed a job on Mnet  new series, Legacy where he plays a wealthy businessman, Msizi Zulu, who is the CEO of Legacy Investments so he will only be missed on Isibaya but not on TV.

The actor was treated to a royal farewell by the Isibaya cast and crew after The Bomb production producers gifted him with a bouquet of red roses and a tailor-made blazer on his final day on set.

Producer Desiree Markgraaff had kind words to say to Siyabonga Twala

“Eight years… Amazing and beautiful storytelling. What a character. Thank you for bringing so much dignity and depth, and so many beautiful scenes.”

Siyabonga Twala thanked both Desiree Markgraaff and Angus Gibson in turn for entrusting him with the role of Mpiyakhe Zungu saying

, “Thank you for trusting me with this role. It’s been a great journey. We’ve had some challenges, but it was nothing personal, we were both trying to fix it and make it better. So, thank you, I hope our paths cross again.”

Fans look forward to see their beloved actor back on the small screens soon.
