Mzansi Magic To Pull The Plug On The Throne, Papa Penny Ahe, Isibaya And The Herd?

Recently, there have been reports that Isibaya was getting cancelled on Mzansi Magic channel, uncertainty levels have risen for most shows on the channel who haven’t been doing well for long – even worse than Isibaya.

They are hanging on a thread, awaiting Mzansi Magic’s final ruling on their fate, but it’s almost certain many are to be axed.

Mzansi Magic came through with clarity on the issue surrounding Isibaya canning early this week saying that it will take a bit of time for the show to actually get its fate. And an announcement was going to be made in due course.

Nomsa Philiso Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net suggested that the review for cancellation was not only exclusive to Isibaya. She said:

“Every year before we recommission the great shows that are broadcast on Mzansi Magic, we conduct a review of all shows, using a variety of metrics as standard practice in the industry, to ensure the decision to renew contracts is well informed.

The review is not exclusive to Isibaya, and an announcement will be made in due course.”

This suggests that most poorly performing shows, the likes of The Fergusons’ The Throne, The Herd, Papa Penny Ahe, iGazi, iNgoma, iNumber Number, Real Housewives Of Johannesburg, and many more’s lives are hanging on a thread and may be cancelled from the channel in any time.

Fans were heartbroken on Monday when it was reported that Isibaya was coming to an end after 7 years running on the channel. Mzansi Magic reportedly did not renew their contracts for next season.
