Uzalo actor Bhekisizwe Mahlawe, and his friends, two Gqom artists, Bhar and Sosha Ngcobo, survived a horrific crash on Saturday night while they were on their way to a gig in Hillcrest.

Uzalo Actor Recounts Car Accident

According to Mahlawe, who plays the role of Njeza on Uzalo, another car hit them at an intersection and caused their vehicle to spin out of control. He said that they were lucky to have their seat belts on, otherwise, they could have been thrown out of the car or worse.

He also said that his car was written off, but he was thankful that they survived the accident.

“I am still in shock and pain, but I thank God for saving our lives. The car is replaceable, but life is more precious and valuable,” he said.

Gqom Artists Grateful For Life

Bhar and Sosha Ngcobo, who are known for their hit songs such as Thando and Ngiyabonga Baba, also expressed their gratitude for being alive. They said that they suffered some bruises and injuries, but they were recovering well. However, they said that one of their passengers, who is also a friend, was still in a critical condition and needed prayers.

“Please pray for our friend who is still fighting for his life in hospital. He was the most injured in the accident, and we hope he will pull through. We also want to thank our fans and supporters for their love and messages. We appreciate you all,” they said.

The three stars are among the most prominent figures in the Durban entertainment scene. Mahlawe has been part of Uzalo since 2019 and has also appeared in other shows such as Durban Gen and Isibaya. Bhar and Sosha Ngcobo have been making waves in the Gqom music industry since 2017 and have collaborated with other artists such as DJ Tira, Dladla Mshunqisi and Tipcee.

They have also been nominated for several awards, including the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and the Metro FM Music Awards (MMA). They recently released a new single called Umthandazo Wami, which features vocalist Lindiwe Mkhize.
