Timothy Omotoso’s Acquittal after Eight-Year Legal Battle
In April 2025, televangelist Timothy Omotoso and his two co-accused were acquitted of all criminal charges, bringing an end to an intense legal battle that spanned eight years. The case began in 2017 when several women came forward, accusing Omotoso of sexual misconduct, human trafficking, and racketeering. Prosecutors alleged that he orchestrated a sophisticated scheme targeting vulnerable young women — including minors — under the guise of spiritual mentorship
Co-accused Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho were believed to have played a central role in scouting and recruiting victims, who were allegedly transported to various locations, including church retreats in Nigeria and Israel. The state claimed these international trips masked illicit activities.
However, Omotoso maintained his innocence throughout, asserting that the trips were part of legitimate religious outreach programmes organised by his Jesus Dominion International church. His defence argued the case was rooted in cultural bias and misinterpretation of religious practices.
Timothy Omotoso Arrested Again
Barely a month after his release, Timothy Omotoso has been arrested again.
National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola confirmed his arrest this morning following a church service. He arrested for allegedly violating immigration laws.
