Orlando Pirates Football Club is in mourning following the tragic death of young defender Setjhaba Mofokeng, who passed away yesterday.

Football Club Confirms Setjhaba Mofokeng’s Death
In a statement Orlando Pirates Football Club confirmed Setjhaba Mofokeng’s death.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Setjhaba Mofokeng.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.
Setjhaba, who was on loan at Wits at the time of his passing, was part of our 2023/24 DDC team
Rest in peace, Setjhaba.”
From Rising Star to Tragic Loss: Mofokeng’s Journey Through South African Football
Setjhaba Mofokeng, who tragically passed away, was on loan at ABC Motsepe League side Wits FC.
He joined Orlando Pirates in February 2022 at just 16 years old, coming from the Brits Soccer Academy in North West Province.
After being included in Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge squad, he was later loaned out to Wits to gain more experience.

Setjhaba Mofokeng’s death has sparked a wave of emotions and heartbreak, especially following reports that his father passed away just three weeks ago. It has also been revealed that Mofokeng was involved in an accident, in which he and his uncle tragically lost their lives.
