Oscar Pistorius arrested at BeitBridge while trying to cross into Zimbabwe with a fake name

Reports filtering in from Limpopo suggest that troubled Oscar Pistorius was apprehended at the South African border as he tried to flee the country into neighbouring Zimbabwe.

Oscar, who is due to know his fate later today, was in the presence of a Zimbabwean man identified as Midzo. His attempts to freedom were thwarted by sharp eyed border officials who recognised him and alerted SAPS. Oscar is facing a minimum of 15 years if found guilty murdering his then girlfriend,¬†Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.

The former paralympic champion must have thought it’s easy to cross the border illegally considering the number of illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe who have made South Africa their home. A border official who was there when the incident occurred said Oscar was trying to use the name Cyril Knowles. “He tried to cross the border at 2am, in the cover of night and he thought we would not notice it was him”, the official said.

When iMzansi Satire team got wind of the story, we tried to contact our reliable source at the border but she could not confirm the development. However, some of those at the border post said it did happen and Oscar was promptly whisked away to Pretoria High Court where he will know his fate.

It was not immediately ascertained if he will be charged for the escape attempt.
