The parliament is set to question Podcaster MacG over his offensive remarks about Minnie Dlamini over the past week.
Deputy Minister for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, has publicly criticized popular podcaster MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho for his inappropriate comments about media personality Minnie Dlamini during a recent episode of his show, Podcast and Chill.
Outrage Over Derogatory Statements
Letsike described MacG’s remarks as “disgraceful and unacceptable,” emphasising that they constitute a form of online gender-based violence (GBV). The podcaster allegedly made speculative claims about Dlamini’s personal life and used offensive language regarding her hygiene, sparking widespread backlash.

In an official statement, the Deputy Minister stressed that such comments violate constitutional rights, including dignity, equality, and personal security. “These kinds of statements perpetuate harmful stereotypes and normalize the abuse of women in digital spaces,” Letsike stated.
Possible Legal Consequences
The Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities confirmed that MacG will be summoned to address his conduct before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee. Failure to comply could result in legal penalties, including fines or a 12-month prison sentence.
Additionally, legal experts are evaluating whether MacG’s statements qualify as crimen injuria, a criminal offence involving intentional damage to a person’s dignity. If charged, the podcaster could face further legal repercussions.

Parliament Calls For MacG’s Accountability
Letsike urged media personalities to foster respectful discourse and avoid spreading harmful narratives.
“Freedom of speech does not justify harassment or defamation,” she said. The incident has reignited discussions about online accountability and the need for stricter measures against digital abuse.
As public pressure mounts, many are awaiting MacG’s response and the potential outcomes of the parliamentary summons.
