Philani Mabanga aka Umfundisi uNtshebe Dies: Family Appeals for Donations to Cover His Burial Costs

Following the sudden passing of beloved comedian and rapper Philani Mandlenkosi Mabanga, popularly known as Umfundisi uNtshebe, his family has reached out to the public for assistance with funeral expenses.

Mabanga, who gained fame for his humorous and relatable content, passed away last Friday. As the family grapples with their loss, they are also facing financial difficulties in arranging a proper send-off.

Family in Need of Support, Begs for Donations

Family spokesperson Dudu Mabanga confirmed the news of Umfundisi uNtshebe’s sudden untimely death to ZiMoja.

Dudu who is struggling to come to terms with Umfundisi uNtshebe’s death, revealed that the  died in his sleep despite not having been ill.

“He was not sick; he went to bed and never woke up,” she explained.

She also emphasized the financial strain the family is facing in trying to organize a dignified funeral for the 54-year-old entertainer.

“Any donations are welcomed at this point; the family will appreciate the contribution,” Mabanga added.

The family has set up a bank account for those willing to assist with donations, which will help cover essential costs like the casket and catering for the service.

“His memorial service will be on Thursday, and he will be buried on Saturday. At the moment, we are still trying to put things together; we will confirm the venues as soon as everything goes well,” Dudu added.

Struggling Before His Death

Umfundisi uNtshebe, who was renowned for his comedic music and satire that humorously critiqued religious practices, had been facing financial challenges before his untimely death. His family confirmed that he had struggled to secure new deals, leaving him destitute. He is survived by his nine-year-old daughter, whom he was raising with limited resources.
