Pitso Mosimane Eyes National Team Job as Abha FC Contract Nears End

It appears that Pitso Mosimane and his team are already planning for his next move despite his current commitments with Abha FC in the Saudi Pro League. Mosimane’s agent, Moira Tlhagale, has indicated that they are exploring opportunities with national teams for his next coaching job.

While Mosimane’s current contract with Abha FC extends until the end of the season, there’s a possibility of an extension if both parties agree on terms for the next season. However, Tlhagale has made it clear that they are also considering other options and are in talks with potential employers, although none of them are local. She said,

“Local, local, local… no, local. I will tell you definitely, the next move the coach would like to do or the coach and the whole technical team would like to do is a national team. So we are looking for those options for them, that’s the mandate they have given me. But obviously, if there is a project, even local, that comes, we’ll consider it.”

Tlhagale mentioned that Abha FC initially wanted to secure Mosimane for a longer period, proposing an 18-month contract. However, they couldn’t reach an agreement on salary terms. As a result, they settled on a shorter contract duration, allowing Mosimane to focus on helping the club avoid relegation for the remaining four months of the season. She added,

“They wanted an 18-month contract but for us, just my side in the negotiations, we were not happy with the next year’s amount. Understanding the market, we agreed that we’ll help them for the next four months and if there’s interest, the coach would keep them in the Saudi Pro League, and we agreed on the negotiations of the second part, then yes… if we don’t agree he moves on to other opportunities.”

When pressed for details on the teams with which she they are in talks, Tlhagale declined to disclose any specific names at this time.
