Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has finalised his squad for South Africa’s upcoming international assignments.
The coach initially named 35 players in his provisional squad. However, he has now reduced that number to 30.
South Africa will open its competitive campaign against Guinea on 26 September. Orlando Stadium will host the encounter.
Four days later, Bafana Bafana will travel to Cairo. They will face Eritrea on 30 September.
The team will remain in Egypt for another crucial fixture. South Africa will then meet the hosts on 4 October.
Mosimane has retained several players who featured during the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. However, he has also introduced some fresh options.
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe remains part of the final group. His selection provides an interesting link to Mosimane’s previous coaching career.
The midfielder previously worked with Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns. He has also impressed since joining Kaizer Chiefs.
Five players miss out as Mosimane reshapes squad
Five players from Mosimane’s preliminary selection have now been left out.
Cemran Dansin and Tshepo Mashiloane are among those who failed to make the final group.
Lyle Foster is another notable omission from the squad. Ronaldo van Neel and Tshepang Moremi have also been excluded.
Moremi recently returned to Orlando Pirates training. Nevertheless, Mosimane decided against selecting the winger for the international window.
Meanwhile, several players have earned opportunities to impress the national team coach.
Tashreeq Matthews, Lebone Seema and Cassius Mailula are included in the final squad. Yanela Mbuthuma also made the cut.
