Chairperson of Crime Fighting Unit Arrested

Authorities in Katlehong, Gauteng, have already arrested Duma Radebe, the chairperson of the Gauteng Crime Fighting Units. Radebe faces charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing a firearm.

According to the police, the charges stem from an incident reported in December by an alleged drug dealer. The complainant claimed he was assaulted and threatened with a firearm during a festive operation in the area. Radebe, Khumalo, and a third person are alleged to have been involved.

Police Confirm Arrest and Charges

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo confirmed the arrest of the 45-year-old Radebe. “It is alleged that the suspect and his accomplices assaulted the victim and pointed him with firearms as they accused him of selling drugs. The suspect is expected to appear before Palmridge Magistrate Court in due course,” Masondo said.

The police are also actively seeking Khumalo and another crime unit member. When asked about Khumalo, Masondo declined to provide details, citing legal restrictions that prevent disclosing the names of suspects without an arrest warrant.

Khumalo No Stranger to Controversy

This is not Khumalo’s first brush with the law. In 2023, he was arrested and charged with murder, assault, and theft. Those charges were later withdrawn, and he was subsequently reinstated as a presenter on Moja Love’s Sizok’thola.

The investigation into the December incident is ongoing as Gauteng police continue their search for Khumalo and the remaining suspect.
