Tavern Horror: Five People Shot Dead, Three Injured in Olievehoutbosch Shooting
Five people were shot and killed in a brutal tavern shooting in Olievehoutbosch, Pretoria, on Friday night, 18 July 2025. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM at a tavern in the Shoba Informal Settlement.
According to police, the victims included two women and three men. Three other people were injured during the attack.

Suspects Fired Randomly Without Speaking
Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said about ten suspects entered the tavern and opened fire without uttering a single word.
“It is reported that the suspects came to a tavern and started shooting randomly, without saying a word. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage,” Masondo stated.
Police Open Murder Case, Launch Manhunt
Police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder and have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.
