Public Outrage After SAPS Refuses to Offer Police Escorts to Sizok’thola Host Xolani Khumalo
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has reporredly rejected a request by Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo for police escorts during the filming of his popular anti-drug television programme.
Xolani Khumalo, known for fearlessly confronting drug dealers and exposing criminal activity on the show, had reportedly requested SAPS assistance to ensure safety during high-risk operations.
However, SAPS reportedly shut down the request without providing a clear explanation.

A Blow to Community Crime-Fighting Initiatives
The news has sparked widespread outrage, especially given the police’s frequent appeals to citizens to take an active role in combating crime. Many are now questioning why law enforcement would block support for someone visibly doing just that.
Critics argue that Xolani Khumalo and his team are placing themselves in dangerous situations that should naturally require law enforcement backup.
Here are some of the reactions:
@nipho_ntuli;
But @SAPoliceService you said community must assist in dealing with crime!?
@Oracle5152;
Then who are they protecting or against? SAPS ke masepa straight
@Lindo_Mnisi;
The @SANDF_ZA must step in and offer to escort the Sizok’thola crew. The fight against drugs in our country is urgent, and the revolution must be televised.
@Salem_Word
Therefore the community must take the law into their own hands since @SAPoliceService does not want to be involved. The youth is perishing because of drugs and the police who are now forced to do their job don’t want to. This country is gone shame.
@MadumeDumela;
The person issued this statement and signed it must be secretly be investigated, we are tired of police officers who work against the community.
@goldi32400;
The government is against xolani khumalo😭😭. ..SAPS is compromised
@kfreshFADED;
Coz the government benefits from these drugs. Not just financially, but systematically. A national full of critical thinkers is hard to rule by feeding them nonsense. Which is what the government is, NONSENSE!! If they wanted the drugs gone, it would’ve been dealt with long ago.
