DJ Maphorisa Reveals Why Samthing Soweto Is Missing From FNB Stadium Show

DJ Maphorisa has revealed why Samthing Soweto will not be part of the Scorpion Kings Live show at FNB Stadium, claiming the singer could not be reached despite an offer of R500,000 (about US$30,303) for the performance.

The revelation was made on Podcast and Chill with MacG, with Maphorisa explaining that he and Kabza De Small wanted the singer to join them for the major concert.

R500,000 Offer Could Not Reach Samthing Soweto

DJ Maphorisa says an attempted reunion with Samthing Soweto for the Scorpion Kings Live show at FNB Stadium fell through after communication between the artists broke down.

Speaking on Podcast and Chill with MacG, Maphorisa said he and Kabza De Small were prepared to pay Samthing Soweto R500,000 (about US$30,303) to perform at the highly anticipated show.

“We wanted Samthing Soweto. We were going to pay him R500,000. But we couldn’t get hold of him.”

Maphorisa claimed that Samthing Soweto had blocked the pair across communication channels, making it difficult for them to present the offer.

Former Collaborators Remain Apart

The musicians previously worked together on several major Amapiano tracks, including “Akulaleki”, “Amantombazane” and “AmaDM”.

However, their relationship has deteriorated over the years amid public disagreements involving music credits, master ownership and financial matters.

Maphorisa’s latest comments suggest that efforts to bring Samthing Soweto into the FNB Stadium performance did not succeed.

Samthing Soweto has not publicly responded to the claim that he was offered R500,000. MDN News reported on 18 September 2026 that messages had also been sent to his team without a response.

FNB Stadium Reunion Hopes Fade

The possibility of seeing the former collaborators share a stage had generated interest among fans ahead of the Scorpion Kings Live event.

For now, Maphorisa’s account indicates that Samthing Soweto will not be part of the planned reunion, although the singer has yet to publicly address the reported offer or explain his side of the story.

The R500,000 claim has added another chapter to the long-running fallout between the former collaborators. Any future reunion will depend on whether communication between the artists can be restored.
