Rapper Zuluboy Sues Production Company Over Lost Lead Role in Umkhokha: The Curse

In a dramatic turn of events, popular rapper and actor Zuluboy, real name Mxolisi Majozi, has initiated legal proceedings against production company Rhythm World Productions.

Zuluboy Claims Lead Role Wrongfully Taken Away

The lawsuit stems from Zuluboy’s claim that he was originally cast in the lead role for the TV series Umkhokha: The Curse, only to have the part ultimately given to actor Nkanyiso Mchunu.

An inside source at Umkhokha revealed to Zimoja that Zuluboy had been brought on board the production, living on set for a week as he prepared for the role.

He was sent to work on the production for a week, he lived on set but did not work.So, he wasted a good five days, reading scripts and practicing. But then, at the last minute, the decision was made to give the part to Nkanyiso Mchunu instead,” the insider revealed.

Production Company Offered “Counter Offer”, but Lawsuit Ensued

The source added that Zuluboy felt deeply “disrespected” by the change, despite the production company’s attempts to offer him an alternative deal.

The company tried to counter offer but he took the legal direction as he was not happy with the offer,” the insider stated.

Dispute to Be Settled Through Arbitration Process

In the legal documents obtained by the publication, Zuluboy’s legal team has confirmed that the matter will now proceed to arbitration, as per the provisions of the Freelance Performer’s agreement. The arbitration process will allow both Zuluboy and Rhythm World Productions to state their respective cases before a neutral arbiter.
