A respected octogenarian doctor in Kroonstad has been plunged into a nightmare after a videotaped confession in which he admits to assisting in the burial of a farmworker in a shallow grave on his property. The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community, unravelling a tale that involves a fatal shooting and a deeply controversial cover-up.
The doctor, whose practice has since been forcibly closed by outraged members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), stated that the entire tragic episode began when his grandson allegedly shot the worker during a violent confrontation. He maintains that the incident was a defensive measure against a group attempting to steal cables from the farm.
Respected Doctor Confesses To Burying Farmworker In Shallow Grave
The elderly medical professional provided a detailed account on camera. He did not shy away from his role in the subsequent events, painting a picture of panic and poor judgment following the death. His confession has become a central piece of evidence in a case that is being described as deeply disturbing.

“I made a terrible mistake,” the doctor is reported to have stated in his confession. “In that moment of fear and confusion, we buried him on the farm. I know now that it was wrong, and I am prepared to face the consequences for my actions.”
However, the doctor’s version of events is fiercely contested. Eyewitnesses and local sources have come forward with a starkly different narrative, suggesting the initial altercation was not about cable theft but was instead rooted in a heated dispute over unpaid wages. This contradiction lies at the heart of the ongoing police investigation.
A spokesperson for the South African Police Service confirmed the basic timeline, stating, “The body of the deceased was formally exhumed for forensic examination on August 20, 2025. Both the doctor and his grandson are facing serious charges as our investigation continues.” The police have urged the public to avoid speculation and to allow the legal process to run its course.
The EFF, which confronted the doctor, leading to his confession, has been vocal in their demands. A local commander stated,
“This is not justice. A man was killed and hidden like an animal. We will not rest until there is accountability for this crime.”
