The South African entertainment community is in mourning following the passing of acclaimed actor Don Mlangeni-Nawa on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Family members confirmed the 65-year-old performer had been battling health challenges since August 2024.
Don Mlangeni Nawa Has Been Sick As Revealed by Close Relative
Mabutho “Kid” Sithole, the late actor’s uncle and fellow industry veteran, shared insights with Sunday World about his nephew’s condition.
“He hadn’t been well for several months,” Sithole revealed. “While we don’t yet know the exact medical cause, he experienced significant physical discomfort, particularly abdominal pain.”

Remembering the Man Behind the Roles
Sithole painted a portrait of his nephew as someone who embraced life’s joyful moments.
“Don was the kind of person who avoided heavy debates and political discussions. He much preferred picnics, entertainment, and keeping things lighthearted. Unlike many artists, he rarely participated in industry grievance meetings.”
The veteran actor expressed disappointment that Mlangeni-Nawa never received proper recognition during his lifetime. “It’s unfortunate how South Africa often fails to appreciate its own talent until it’s too late,” Sithole lamented.
Family Requests Privacy During Difficult Time
Regina Nawa, the actor’s widow, confirmed that the family would disclose further details about his passing at an appropriate time. Memorial and funeral arrangements remain pending, with announcements expected in coming days.
