SA Idols Contestant Ndoni Recently Gave Birth

Idols contestant Ndoni who’s real name is Phumzile Mseleku recently gave birth to a baby girl who’s name is Nomkazimulo and she is now 3-months-old.

Ndoni (22) from Newlands, kwa-Zulu Natal, was pregnant when she was selected in the top 16.

According to her, the hardest part was singing while pregnant because she struggled to breathe adding that she thought about pulling out so many times. She also said that sometimes she would feel uncomfortable when people discuss her pregnancy on social media.

On naming her baby girl Nonkazimulo which means Grace, Ndoni said she is so grateful she didn’t pull out of the show and her baby girl is the reason she’s pushing herself week after week despite critics who judge her singing and looks. She says it’s a miracle that she’s still in the competition and says her baby is a miracle.

She knows that Idols South Africa is temporary and she’ll be home soon although she’s finding it hard being away from her baby at the moment who is being taken care of by her family.

Because Idols fans sometimes can’t hear or understand her lyrics because of her accent, some have been judgemental on her. On the other  hands some fans have defended her saying:

“ Idols or not, Ndoni will make it. She’s got the right look, she’s unique and talented. She’s going to be scooped by an International music label.”

Commenting on the competition, Ndoni said Idols is a stepping stone for her and she is inspired by many successful artists like Shekhina who entered and never won because they were just as different.

Ndoni has been compared to the likes of Tracy Chapman and Macy Gray.
