SA Police has offered a R150K bounty as their hunt for Zimbabwean cop killer intensifies all over the country.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has escalated its search for Jabulani Thabang Moyo, the prime suspect in the execution-style murder of two law enforcement officers during a prison transfer in Roodepoort last Friday.
The slain officers boasted a combined 40 years of service. WO Sintwa has dedicated 23 years to the force since 2002, while Sgt Masenye served for 17 years. Their patrol vehicle was later discovered abandoned near the crime scene.

National Police Commissioner’s Stern Warning
Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, who personally visited the bereaved families, revealed that three officers had fallen victim to violent crimes within 24 hours. This includes a separate incident in Mpumalanga where Sergeant Lawrence Mtshweni was ambushed responding to a business burglary.
“This constitutes not just an assault on our justice system, but a direct challenge to state authority,” Masemola stated. “We cannot normalize a situation where criminals wage open war against law enforcement.”
The commissioner disclosed that 27 officers have been killed on duty in the current financial year, with six falling prey to targeted attacks since April alone.
Nationwide Manhunt Underway
The elite Hawks investigative unit is leading the probe, examining CCTV footage from the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, nearby filling stations, and the crime scene. Critical questions remain regarding whether Moyo was restrained during transport and why officers used a sedan rather than a secure prison vehicle.
Public Warning and Reward Details
Authorities have classified Moyo as highly dangerous, urging citizens not to approach him under any circumstances. A R150,000 reward is available for credible information leading to his capture, with tipsters instructed to contact WO Rabosiwana at 072 844 4442.

In a related development, SAPS announced an identical reward for information about ten suspects involved in Sergeant Mtshweni’s killing in Schoemansdal. The 18-year veteran was gunned down during a burglary response operation.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe emphasized: “These officers were family providers who made the ultimate sacrifice. We urge anyone with information to come forward – let’s prevent more bloodshed.”
