The South African Police Service SAPS has launched a nationwide appeal for information regarding three missing constables, offering a substantial R350,000 reward for credible leads.

Disappearance of Young Police Officers

The missing officers have been identified as Constables Linda Cebekhulu (24), Keamogetswe Buys (30), and Boipelo Senoge (20). The trio vanished while en route from Bloemfontein to their assigned station in Limpopo last Thursday.

Investigators report their white Volkswagen Polo sedan was last captured on surveillance cameras at an Engen fuel station near the Grasmere Toll Plaza. All communication devices and the vehicle’s tracking system were deactivated near the Buccleuch interchange.

National Police Commissioner Leads Investigation

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola personally addressed the media following an emergency meeting with top investigators.

“We’re deploying all available resources to locate our officers and apprehend those responsible,” Masemola stated. “The reward demonstrates our serious commitment to resolving this case.”

The Commissioner assured potential informants of complete confidentiality, emphasising that tipsters may remain anonymous when providing information through official SAPS channels.

Cross-Provincial Search Operation Underway

Authorities have established a 24-hour Venue Operational Centre to coordinate search efforts between Gauteng and Free State law enforcement agencies. Specialised detectives and crime intelligence units have been mobilised across both provinces.

Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae appealed for public patience, stating:

“We stand with the families during this difficult time and have full confidence in SAPS’ investigative capabilities. Our collective prayers are for these young officers’ safe return.”

Minister Urges Community Cooperation

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, through spokesperson Kamogelo Mogotsi, called for nationwide vigilance:

“These officers represent South Africa’s finest. We implore citizens to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”

Commissioner Masemola confirmed investigators are pursuing all possible leads while refraining from speculation about the disappearance’s circumstances. The SAPS has also announced plans to review safety protocols for interprovincial officer travel.
