Sekhukhune United Winger Shaune Mogaila Surrenders After Accident Claims Life of 9-Year-Old Girl
Sekhukhune United soccer star Shaune Mogaila has turned himself in to police following a tragic accident that claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl in Tembisa.

Details of Shaun Mogaila’s Fatal Accident
The incident took place early Wednesday morning on Andrew Mapheto Road when Mogaila’s BMW M2 reportedly collided with a mother and her two children, aged 13 and nine. Mogaila initially fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind.

Evidence Found in the Abandoned Vehicle
Upon searching the abandoned BMW, police found empty alcohol bottles, a white powder suspected to be cocaine, and marijuana edibles.
According to EMPD chief Julius Mkhwanazi, the accident left the mother and her 13-year-old child trapped under the car. Emergency services worked to free them, but tragically, the nine-year-old girl was declared dead at the scene. The 13-year-old was taken to Tembisa Tertiary Hospital with serious injuries.
“The mother and child were trapped in the car. The nine-year-old girl passed away and the 13-year-old sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tembisa Tertiary Hospital.The driver of the other vehicle could not be found,” EMPD chief Julius Mkhwanazi said.
Charges Mogaila Faces After Surrendering to the Police
Following his surrender, Mogaila is set to face charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the scene of an accident. At this time, it remains unclear if Mogaila was driving at the time, though the car is registered in his name and was abandoned after the crash.
