‘She Wanted Me Dead’: Former Idols SA Star Accused of Ordering Hit on Former Fiancé
An ex-fiancé of former Idols SA contestant Nomalungelo Noxolo Khumalo has come forward with explosive allegations, claiming she orchestrated a plot to have him killed.
Ntando Mkhulise has now filed a formal complaint with the Portfolio Committee on Police and the Magistrates Commission, accusing law enforcement of repeatedly failing to act on the cases he opened against her.
At the heart of his submission is an alleged attempted murder plot that he claims was orchestrated by Khumalo.
Mkhulise told Sunday World that he met Khumalo in June last year and that their relationship progressed rapidly. By December, they were engaged.

Relationship Breakdown Followed by Violent Allegations
According to Mkhulise, tensions escalated in March this year during a heated argument that allegedly turned violent.
“She stabbed me in the chest and arm, burnt my clothes, damaged my car, and took my wallet with all my bank cards and ID,” he said.
He added that Khumalo opened a case against him the following day, leading to his arrest. He was later released on bail.
Claims of Theft, Property Damage and Police Inaction
Upon returning from custody, Mkhulise alleges that Khumalo had gone to his business premises and stolen half of his furniture. He says he opened a case and submitted photographic evidence but claims the police failed to pursue it.
Mkhulise insists that a pattern of inaction has followed each of the four criminal cases he has opened against Khumalo, including charges of theft, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and malicious damage to property.
“They Told Me She Wants You Dead”: Audio Reveals Alleged Hit Plot
Weeks after the alleged assault incident, Mkhulise says he narrowly escaped death when two unknown men confronted him outside his home. He recalled noticing a suspicious vehicle parked near his gate before one of the men approached him.
“One of them told me they had been sent by my ex-fiancée to kill me. They said they had been following me for two weeks but decided not to go through with it,” he said.
The publication confirmed listening to an audio recording in which one of the men can be heard saying they were sent to kill him because Khumalo claimed he had fought with her.
Mkhulise says he submitted both the audio and a detailed statement to police, but alleges the officers tore up his statement and dismissed his complaint.
Fear of Interference From Magistrate Father
Mkhulise believes the lack of progress is linked to alleged interference by Khumalo’s father, a magistrate at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.
He claims he has continued to attend court for a case opened against him, yet Khumalo has never been arrested.
He further alleges that her siblings sent him WhatsApp messages predicting court outcomes in advance. One of the messages reportedly read:
“Be ready for tomorrow. You’re going to prison, my dad made sure of it. You messed with the wrong family.”
Complaint Submitted — Then a Gun Attack
Feeling unsafe and ignored, Mkhulise escalated the matter by reporting it to the KwaZulu-Natal provincial office. When nothing happened, he filed a formal complaint with the parliamentary committees on Police, Justice and Constitutional Development on Monday, November 10.
Just a day later, tragedy struck.
“On Tuesday morning, November 11, just a day after I filed my complaint, I was shot in the leg outside my home. A bakkie pulled up and opened fire. I managed to run inside before collapsing,” he said.
He is now in ICU and says none of his cases have ever received proper attention, leaving him fearful for his life.
