Shebeshxt to Spend Christmas and New Year Behind Bars After Bail Denied
Popular musician Lehlogonolo Katlego “Shebeshxt” Chauke will spend Christmas and New Year in jail after the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court denied his bail application today.
Chauke is set to reappear in court on 19 January 2026.
The court’s decision follows testimony from investigating officer Phaladi Makola, who opposed the musician’s release due to his alleged involvement in multiple violent offences and pending criminal cases.

Alleged Crimes Cited by Investigating Officer
Makola detailed Chauke’s past conviction from 2018, as well as current charges including two attempted murders, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The attempted murder trials are scheduled between 18 and 20 February 2026 at the Lebowakgomo Regional Court.
He also described a shooting incident at a music festival in Seshego Zone 2, in which Chauke allegedly fired a gun at a complainant. The firearm has not been recovered, and an alleged accomplice, Thabiso Malatji, is also facing arrest.
Court Cites Risk and Past Behaviour
The investigating officer told the court that Chauke had previously been granted bail of R5 000 on other matters with conditions prohibiting Schedule 1 offences, which he allegedly breached. Concerns were also raised over withdrawn cases, including one with a forged complainant signature, highlighting potential risk if Chauke were released.
Next Steps
Shebeshxt will remain in custody over the holiday period and is expected to return to the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in January 2026.

@RealMadamCoco;
Shebeshxt’s festive season is CANCELLED. Bail denied, bro’s eating prison pap for Christmas while the streets move on and forget him. Karma hits harder than December heat. Well deserved.
@MeetYourstruly;
But the rule of law must stand! No one is above the law. Even worse, he’s a public figure loved by young people, and they might think the way he carries himself is acceptable. He’s not the first to spend Christmas behind bars. He’s a citizen and must abide by the rules.
