No Bail, No Gigs: Shebeshxt’s December Bookings in Jeopardy After Attempted Murder Case Postponement
Controversial Lekompo star Shebeshxt is staring at a major financial setback, with fears that he may lose thousands of rands in festive-season bookings if his legal troubles extend beyond December.
The Polokwane High Court postponed his attempted murder case to 21 November, delaying any hopes of securing bail before the month-end rush of performances.
Remanded in Custody Pending Further Investigation
According to Sunday World, Shebeshxt, who had secured a fully booked schedule stretching from late November through December, was remanded in custody following Thursday’s court appearance.
His legal representative, Lot Ramusi, said the artist remains behind bars as profiling and further investigations continue.
Ramusi revealed that the musician had attempted to hand himself over two weeks earlier after learning he was wanted by police, but was allegedly turned away.
“We were contacted about two weeks ago that he was wanted by police. He even attempted to hand himself over, but they refused to arrest him—until Wednesday,” Ramusi said.
Arrest Tied to October Shooting in Ladanna
Police arrested Shebeshxt in Bendor, Polokwane, during an intelligence-driven operation on Wednesday morning.
According to SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the charges relate to a 19 October shooting incident along Witklip Street in Ladanna.
“The suspect allegedly got into a fight with another driver and fired multiple shots at another vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old man,” Ledwaba said.
The injured victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Warrant Execution and Vehicle Seizures
The case, initially opened at Westernburg SAPS, was later escalated to the Provincial Investigation Unit, leading to the issuance of a warrant on Tuesday.
Police executed the warrant the following day and seized two vehicles belonging to the musician for forensic analysis.
Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe praised the swift work of investigators.
“We are addressing this matter with utmost seriousness, and a dedicated team has been appointed,” Hadebe said.
She emphasised that no public figure is above the law, regardless of their popularity.
Growing Concern Over Festival Season Losses
Industry insiders warn that if Shebeshxt fails to secure bail soon, his confirmed back-to-back festive bookings—traditionally the most profitable period for artists—may collapse.
This could result in a substantial financial loss for the 30-year-old star, whose name dominates the Limpopo entertainment scene every December.
