Renowned actress Sindi Dlathu’s impressive salary for her role on the etv drama series Isiphetho: Destiny has been revealed.
Dlathu joins the weekday show, taking on the powerful role of Zanemvula, a character expected to stir things up in Mzimhlophe.
Sources close to the negotiations between Sindi Dlathu and Isiphetho: Destiny’s production company, Black Brain Productions, confirmed that the actress demanded a salary of no less than R200,000 per month to appear on the show.
One insider shared with Zimoja that the show’s executive producer, Mandla N, agreed to Dlathu’s request, understanding the value she would bring to the production.
“You must remember she comes from the River, where she was already the highest paid actress, so it’s a no-brainer that she would want more on Isiphetho. She’s aware of the fact that she will bring numbers to the show, and the show’s executive producer, Mandla N, agreed to it,” a source said.
Another source reiterated the significance of Dlathu’s star power, stating she would not settle for less than R200,000 because of her ability to boost viewership. eTV was said to have fully backed the decision, understanding the potential revenue increase her presence could generate.
“While the negotiations were private and it took long for the agreement to be reached, the channel also wanted her because they know that she is a big star who has the ability to attract more eyeballs to the show, which means revenue for the channel,” another source revealed.
While Mandla N confirmed Sindi Dlathu’s addition to Isiphetho: Destiny, he remained tight-lipped about her salary and contract details, stating,
“I’m very honoured to be working with her; she joined the show at the end of last year and we’ve been shooting with her so far. I can’t discuss people’s contracts.”
