In an interview with Anele Mdoda on 947, she shared personal struggles. She revealed she once needed permission to buy basic toiletries. At the time, she cared for her newborn and Siya’s siblings.
Social media users accused Siya Kolisi of financial abuse. They referenced his past admission about spending money irresponsibly.
Rachel also explained why she would keep her surname. As a result, fans questioned future recognition of Kolisi’s new partner.
Amid this attention, Rachel John posted a TikTok video. Many viewers interpreted it as disrespectful toward Kolisi’s ex-wife. In the clip, she lip-synced: “Always remember that you are the prize”.

She added, “That needs to be a conversation on its own. Just the fact that, why is it considered moving on only when you’re with somebody else? And why is your value only attached when you’re with someone else?”
